The Alchemy of healing

I am delighted to notice that more healers and counselors are calling themselves Alchemcial Healers, or use the the term "Alchemy" to describe the work they do. The alchemy of spiritual and physical healing and transformation, or "Alchemical Therapy" implies that mind-body-soul is one word, one entity. We were all told the well known story of the alchemical process as children; spinning straw into gold. Remember Rumpelstiltskin? The impossible task was given to the beautiful Miller's daughter by the greedy king to make him rich. Of course it was the Miller who lied, offering up his own daughter, bragging that she could spin straw into gold. He was trying to impress the King, hoping to gain favors. Is there anyone you know has done that before, created such lies that eventually come back to haunt? The young girl is locked in the castle dungeon, left with a pile of straw that the king demanded be turned into gold. Of course we all have been given this task at some point in our lives. Perhaps we've been asked to spin our lives from a pile of grief and betrayal, or abuse and abandonment into a functioning happy adult. Well, if not a golden life, then at least silver or copper? Instead of a spinning wheel we have been given a soul. And we have not met only one Rumpelstiltskin, but probably many goblins, tricksters and liars with whom we have made bargains. Alchemy is the science of transforming one substance into another. Soul's purpose is to transform suffering into wisdom. Stop spinning your wheels, get out of the dungeon and let Rumpelstiltskin fly out the window. Find a true friend, for your Soul's task is calling you.
